Yates City, IL - Helen Strohmaier, 85, of Yates City died at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at her home.
She was born Aug. 2, 1926, in Williamsfield to Chester and Luna (Dixon) Bridgewater. She married Robert "Bob" Strohmaier Sr. on Oct. 19, 1942, in Palmyra, Mo. He survives.
Also surviving are one son, Robert Strohmaier Jr. of Farmington; one daughter-in-law, Julia Strohmaier of Lacon; six grandchildren, Johnna Ingersoll, David Strohmaier Jr., Chantell Beach, Todd Strohmaier, Tammi Strohmaier Copeland and Traci Strohmaier; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, David Strohmaier and Mary Louise Wilson; and one sister, Vivian Heegan.
Helen was a licensed cosmetologist and operated a beauty shop out of her home for many years, retiring in the late 1960s.
She attended the United Methodist Church of Elmwood.
Cremation rites will follow services, with burial of ashes at a later date at the Peru City Cemetery.
