EVERETT D. BRESHEARS

Everett Dean Breshears, age 74, of rural Wheatland, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 1998, at his home near Galmey. He was born on September 26, 1923, near Avery, Missouri, the son of Everett Robert and Mealie Mae Mullins Breshears.

He grew up in Hickory County, Missouri and on March 2, 1943, he was inducted into the United States Army, serving in Europe during the World War II. He was awarded four bronze stars. He was honorably discharged on December 9, 1945.

On May 4, 1946, he was united in marriage to Huella Newell at Warsaw, Missouri. Following their marriage, they made their home in Independence where unto this union, three sons and three daughters were born.

He was employed as a maintenance worker for Commerce Bank of Kansas City, the Missouri Highway Department and the Independence Board of Education. He was also employed at Lake City Arsenal and retired from Clorox in 1976.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and twin sons, Larry and Harry.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Huetta Lavern, of the home, a son, Lonnie Dean Breshears of Wheatland, Missouri, three daughters, Betty Ann, and her husband, Clarence Jackson, of Hermitage, Missouri, Carolyn Sue, and her husband, James Herrick, of the state of Michigan, and Donna Lynn Breshears of Hermitage, Missouri, five grandsons, Carl Brandon Oakes, Daniel Nathan Smith, Alexander Everett Breshears, James Daniel Herrick and Marshall Wayne Herrick and two great-grandchildren, William Dean and Sarah Marie Irene Oakes. Also surviving is one sister, Cholia Stevens of Cross Timbers, Missouri, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 3, 1998, at 1:30 PM, at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Rev. Walter Admire officiating.

Burial was in the Cross Timbers Cemetery, Cross Timbers, Missouri. Pallbearers were Rex Benedict, Mike Edge, Danny Hash, David Jackson, Mike Cline, and Steve Rothwell. Honorary Pallbearers were Vance Mitchell and Jim Hildebrand.
