Husband of Rhoda Proffit Land. Stone not found, but he is thought to be interred in this same cemetery near his wife.

According to Glenn Land, In addition to being a local Baptist Minister, Linville was also a local carpenter. Family lore says that he made the coffins for both Laura Foster and later for her accused killer, Tom Dula (Dooley).

His brother,Col. Thomas C. Land (fag #114158212), wrote the poem "The Ballad of Tom Dula" that became the song "Hang Down Your Head Tom Dooley."
