Children: Jesse Burt, Emma Susie, Lillian, Elmer "Boss", Calvin, and Buster.
"Cornelius and “Lou” Coggins lived in Pontotoc County at the time of Cornelius’ death. He died at night and nothing could be done until the next morning. Someone went to Pontotoc, MS to buy lumber and went back to his house and made the casket. They then started for Plantersville, MS for burial in Union Cemetery at Union Methodist Church. It took them until dark to reach the cemetery by wagon and mules. There were people waiting there with lanterns to dig the grave. Cornelius was buried by lantern light."
-This was told to me by Merriel Edwards Wilson, Tupelo, MS and told to her by Ann Dodson Evans. Ann Evans was a relative of my grandfathers or my grandma’s. --- Grace Young, granddaughter of Cornelius and Samantha Louise Edwards Coggins Jones.
