Alice Lucy (McClellan) Welty
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, at the Red Star Brethren in Christ Church. Interment to follow in the Strong City Cemetery under the direction of Shaw Funeral Home, Leedey.
Alice Lucy (McClellan) Welty was born September 26, 1910 in Rome, Oklahoma to Arthur and Clara McClellan and died Wednesday, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 90.
As a child she lived in Garden City, Kansas, east of Roll, and Strong City. She attended school at Wild Horse, Strong City and Three Corners.
Alice married Robert Aaron Welty on February 26, 1931 in Strong City and they established their home in the Five Star Community. Later they moved to the Three Corners community where they established their home until the time of Alice's death.
In her early years, she was a member of the Three Corners Church where she taught Sunday School. Later, she joined the Red Star Brethren in Christ Church where she was an active member teaching Sunday School and Bible School during the summers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Clara McClellan; her husband, R. A. Welty; one brother, Jesse McClellan; and two sons-in-law, Lee Stephens and W.C. "Dub" Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Roberta Smith of Perryton, Texas, Elsie Stephens of Hammon; two sons, Arthur Welty and wife, Johnnie, Rex Welty and Jacqueline all of Leedey; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family askes that memorials be made to the Red Star Brethren in Christ Church or the Leedey, OK Ambulance Service.
