A lifelong Erie resident, he owned and operated Vicos Restaurant, formerly the Trolley Diner, on State St. for 42 years, retiring in 1988. He also owned and operated the Ball & Jack Bowling Alleys, the Big Fish Drive-In Restaurant and Vicos Vending Machine Co. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a former member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Alice Jean Burns Carr Vicos; a stepson, Gary Carr; and four sisters, Theodora Gallagher, Cora Hannah, Mary Psillas and Catherine "Katy" Schroeder.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Vicos of Riverdale, Ga., William S. Vicos of Erie and Dale Vicos, serving in the U.S. Air Force, and his wife, Sandra; two daughters, Cheryl Wattle and her husband, Steve, and Linda Marie Baumann and her husband, Robert, all of Erie, two stepsons; a former wife, Helen Cox Vicos Dunlap of Erie; three sisters, Helen Manos and Cleopatra Fontecchio and her husband, Anthony, all of Erie and Bessie Cooklis and her husband, Michael, of North East; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Burial with military honors will be at Lakeside Cemetery.
