O.L. Schartzer Dies Wednesday Afternoon

Mr. Orlando L. (Toad) Schartzer, 68, 509 South Cherry St., passed away at his home Wednesday.
Born and raised in Bryan, he was a member of the Church of Christ and had been employed by the Gas Co. a number of years.
Surviving are his wife, Lulu, a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Long, one grandchild, Leslie Jane Long, three brothers, Roll and Clayton of Bryan, Levi of Mason, Mich., and a sister, Mrs. Wm. Hood, Butte, Mont. An infant son, Denver Jacob, preceded him in death in 1916.
The body was removed to the Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home where services will be conducted Saturday at 2:30 with Rev. C.L. Wells officiating. Internment in Fountain Grove Cemetery.

Orlando L. Schartzer Expires on Wednesday

Orlando L. (Toad) Schartzer passed away shortly before noon Wednesday at his home, 509 So. Cherry Street. He was 68 years old.
Born and raised in Bryan, Mr. Schartzer was employed by the Ohio Gas Company for a number of years, and was a member of the Church of Christ in this city. Although in failing health for several years, his condition did not become serious until a few weeks ago.
Surviving are his wife, Lulu; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Long; a granddaughter, Leslie Jane Long; three brothers, Roll and Clayton, of Bryan, and Levi of Mason, Mich., and a sister, Mrs. William Hood, Butte, Montana. An infant son, Denver Jacob, preceded him in death in 1916.
Services will be held at the Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. C.L. Wells officiating. Internment will be in Fountain Grove Cemetery.

Orlando L. (Toad) Schartzer, youngest son of Jacob and Martha Himes Schartzer was born October 10, 1879 in Bryan, Ohio, and passed away at his home, 509 S. Cherry St. Wednesday, April 28, 1948, at the age of 68 years, 6 months, and 18 days.
Mr. Schartzer was united with the Church of Christ and has always been a faithful member.
On May 2, 1909, he was united in marriage to Lulu Wheeler by Rev. Shaw in the Methodist Church in Bryan and to this union was born two children. The one son, Denver Jacob, passed away in 1916 at the age of two days.
Mr. Schartzer was employed by the Ohio Gas Co. for a number of years. "Toad" as everyone knew him, was a kind and loving husband and father and was a friend to everyone.
He leaves his widow, Lulu; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Long and one granddaughter, Leslie Jane Long; one sister, Mrs. William Hood of Butte, Mont., three brothers, Roll and Clayton of Bryan; Levi of Mason, Mich., and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home, Rev. C.L. Wells and Rec. Glen Cameron officiating. Burial in Fountain Grove Cemetery.

We wish to thank all our friends and neighbors for their kindness and sympathy during the sickness and death of our husband and father. To those who sent floral offerings, to Rev. Wells and Rev. Cameron for their consoling words, to the ladies of the church, Pythian Sisters, and the Rebekah ladies for the food furnished and help in the home; also all the employees of the Ohio Gas Co. for their help and comfort. We are sincerely grateful. Your kindnesses will be ever remembered.
