Ivory Long, 90, of Bulls Gap, passed away early Monday at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital following an extended illness.

She was born in Madison County, N.C., but had been a resident of Bulls Gap since 1946.

She was a longtime member of Bulls Gap First United Methodist Church and served on the United Methodist Women's committee.

She was a registered nurse, having attended nurses' training in Washington, D.C., and at Greeneville Hospital.

She was a member the Order of the Eastern Star.

She retired as an occupational nurse from American Enka, having worked for more than 40 years.

She is survived by three sisters and a brother-in-law: Willie Mae Conner of Greeneville, Veva Ramsey of Chuckey, and Trula and Maynard Gahagan of Spartanburg, S.C.; a special cousin: Velma Beck; and several nieces, nephews, and other cousins.

She was preceded in death by a sister: L.D. Sluder; three brothers: Gladson Roy and William McCoy Bishop, and an infant, Della Lee; and a dear friend Mrs. Mary Kite.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Joan Greene family, the Williams family, Charles Overton, Judy McDonald, the Regency Retirement staff, the Heritage Center staff, the medical staff at Lakeway Regional Hospital and Morristown-Hamblen Health Care systems, her primary care physicians and staff, along with numerous friends, neighbors and fellow church members.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Thursday at Bulls Gap First UM Church with the funeral service following at 3 p.m. The Rev. Bill Hughes will officiate.

Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Greeneville
