WAYNESVILLE – Mrs. Pauline Russell Rowland age 95 of Waynesville, passed away Friday, February 03, 2012. She was born in Haywood County to the late Lawrence and Selma Rogers Russell. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Woodrow W. Rowland, a son Wendell Carroll Rowland, grandson Brian Rowland, sisters Lucille Sheffield, Edna Messer, and Lois Bradley. Mrs. Rowland was a homemaker, who was noted for being a wonderful cook, a talented piano player, and a woman who valued and loved her family. She attended Red Bank Baptist Church. Survivors include her sons Wayne Rowland and his wife Carol of Fredricksburg VA, Jennings Rowland and his wife Teresa of Las Vegas NV; daughters Jean Sparks Thomas and her husband Albert of Cumming GA, Betty Lee Rowland of Chico CA; daughter in law Shirley Trammell Rowland of Williamsburg VA; brother Robert Russell of Waynesville; sisters Betty Jo Baker of Long Beach MS, Edith Carpenter of Gulfport MS, Phyllis Kirkpatrick of Waynesville; grandchildren Pam Turner, Ann Brown, Barry Sparks, Wendy Rowland, Kurt Rowland, Sharon Starsky, Tonya Williamson, Cara Grant, and Luke Brown; great-grandchildren Michael Turner, Jennifer Lynn, Rachael Grant, Kaitlyn Grant, Jenna Starsky, Hannah Rowland, Zachary Sparks, Justin Sparks, Ben Williamson, Jacob Williamson, and Haley Williamson; great-great-grandson Xavier Turner; and several nieces and nephews, and a very special nephew Terry Kirkpatrick. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 2 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel. The family received friends from 12-2PM prior to the service. Interment will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park, with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. Memorial Contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
