Howard J. Brock, 58, passed away Saturday forenoon at the Blodgett Hospital Medical Center at Grand Rapids where he had been hospitalized for three weeks. He was born in Lake Odessa, April 3, 1918, the son of Abraham and Jennie (Begerow) Brock and had attended the Lake Odessa High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force three years and during that time was a prisoner of war for 21 months. He received his discharge October 9, 1945.

Mr. Brock married Esther Nelson September 22, 1945 at Belding. After his discharge from service he was employed by General Motors at Lansing for 27 years, at the Oldsmobile Forge Plant. He attended the Christian Reformed Church and was a member of the Lesky-Dulek Chapter 29, of the Disabled American Veterans of Ionia.

Surviving are his wife; a son, William of Woodbridge, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Keith (Barbara) Fredricks and Patricia Brock; his mother, Mrs. Jennie Brock, all of Lake Odessa; two sisters, Mrs. LeRoy (Margaret) Brock and Mrs. Ray (Madeline) Hoffman, both of Lansing; and three brothers, Glendon and Dale of Lake Odessa and Vernon of Woodland.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 at the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel, Rev. Howard Vugetveen of Hudsonville officiated. Military graveside services were held at Lakeside Cemetery under the auspices of the DAV Chapter.
