In 1900, Sigvold and his parents moved to Minnesota. In 1907, they moved to Nowlin SD to a homestead and in 1911, they moved to Centerville SD. Sigvold received his education in Nowlin and Centerville.
He married Ruth Peterson on July 3, 1918 at Centerville SD. The couple farmed in the Centerville area until moving into town (Centerville) in 1970. They both entered the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Viborg SD in 1985. Ruth died Feb 1, 1988.
Sig was a member of the Scandia Lutheran Church, where he served as a Deacon and Trustee as well as the Sunday School Superintendent and teacher for 25 years. He also served on the Euclid School Board.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, three grandchildren, five brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his sons, Stanley, Ralph and Delmer, all of Centerville SD; his daughters, Ferne (Mrs Delmer Olson) of Beresford SD, and Marilyn (Mrs Richard Anderson) of Kingsburg, CA; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren.
Services were held Sept 12, 1991 at Scandia Lutheran Church in Cenerville with Rev. Robert Berng officiating. Burial is in Riverview Cemetery of Centerville, Wass Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Cause of death is listed as Pneumonia.
