"Charles Bluford Casterline was born on the 31st of March, 1883, in Hartford City, Blackford County, Indiana, the son of Smith 1845-1923 and Nancy Ellen [Mills] Casterline 1851-1903, and he died on the 24th of August, 1933, in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Charles was a very talented man and I am certain that I owe a lot to him for who & how I am. Charles married Grace Townsend Warner on the 30th of March, 1912 in Tarentum, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania. They lived several years at Clarion Co. Pa. where two children were born to them, my Grandmother: Esta Marie Casterline, born 18 February, 1914 and her brother, Richard Paul Casterline, born 9 October, 1916. Thanks be almost completely to my grandmother Esta Casterline Warren that amazing amounts of pictures and information were safely stored since her father's days. Charles was very talented as an artist, musician, as well as anything he set his mind to. He excelled as a photographer, just as his father did pioneering early, new techniques and at least a couple thousand beautiful pictures remain as a testimony to his life-long hobby turned profession. He had a photography studio, "Casterline Studio" in Cleveland for years until his accidental death. Charles was struck by an automobile while crossing the street and died days later at the hospital from the injuries he had sustained. An excellent husband and extremely motivated father who was always dressing up the family and taking them to different beautiful locations to take pictures and sharpen his photography skills. In his studio he would skillfully develop his own pictures, many occasions humorous, even superimposing images over others, pioneering new methods and ideas in photography. Charles had a short but very productive and happy life."
