Effie Christine Cobb was the oldest known child of George William Cobb and Amanda Caroline aka Mattie Worley. Her parents had married in March 1889 in Marshall County.

On September 5, 1894, Effie Christine arrived in the family. And on February 7, 1898, her sister, Ethel Beatrice Cobb arrived.

By 1900, some of the Cobbs of Madison County, Alabama had moved to the coal mining area around Walker and Jefferson Counties where they were working as miners. On the 1900 census, George was working as a coal miner in Jefferson County and his wife, Amanda, and two young daughters, Effie and Ethel, were with him.

The family moved back to Madison County sometime in the early 1900s and George Washington Cobb farmed for the rest of his life.

On October 3, 1910, John Isaac Cobb and Effie Christine Cobb married. Their first child, Agnes Inez Cobb, was born November 25, 1911 and lived less than two months, dying on January 13, 1912. She was buried at Chandler Cemetery.

In 1920, the family lived in the Owens Cross Roads area with Effie's parents and their family. And on July 25, 1927, Effie Christine Cobb, 32 years old and the mother of 5 young children, died. She was buried at Chandler Cemetery near her firstborn child, Agnes Inez.
