Amanda Caroline Worley Cobb was the daughter of Henry F. Worley and Bernice Cobb. She was the second child and first daughter born to the couple.

Her siblings were:
John Bryant Worley (1877-1916)
King Worley (1877-1900)
Eva Queen Worley (1879-1929)
Ida Pearl Worley (1882-1963)
Christopher Columbus Worley (1884-1962)
Maggie Lee Worley (1887-1936)
Kate Marie Worley (1891-1958)

In March 1889 Mattie Worley married George William Cobb in Marshall County, Alabama. Known children born to the couple were:
Effie Christine Cobb (1894-1927)
Ethel Beatrice Cobb (1898-1985)
Leslie O. Cobb (1902-1941)
Ollie Leroy Cobb (1905-1971)
Mary Berniece Cobb (1907-2005)
Francis M. Cobb (1910-2006)
Jessie D. Cobb (1914-1994)

On the 1900 census, the Cobb family was living in Jefferson County, Alabama with their daughters, Effie and Ethel. George William Cobb was working as a coalminer. They reported on the census that 4 children had been born and 2 were living. The names of those two children have not come down through records.

By 1910, the family had returned to the Owens Cross Roads area, and the family had grown with 3 more children - Leslie, Lee (Ollie Leroy), and Berneice (Mary Berneice). Later that year, Frances was born and Jessie D. Cobb arrived in 1914. And by 1930, the family was living on the New Hope/Gurley Road, and there were two children left at home, Frances and Jessie.

On April 3, 1937, George William Cobb was killed in an accident when he tumbled from the back of a light truck in downtown Huntsville. Apparently, the truck had stopped moving and he was going to get out when he lost his balance when the truck began moving again. He was buried at Chandler Cemetery.

In 1940, Mattie Cobb was living with her youngest son, Jessie, and his family. And on March 14, 1941, she died at home at the age of 67. She was buried at Chandler Cemetery by her husband.
