Elsie Lucille Goebel
Elsie Lucille Goebel, 89, of Athens, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
She was born in North Carolina and spent most of her life in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., before moving to Athens in 2008 to be closer to her son. A daughter of the late Felix and Elsie Fowler Monteith, she was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Goebel. She was a member of the Athens Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, David E. and Linda Goebel of Athens; and one sister, Ann Chmielnick of New City, N.Y.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Congress Parkway in Athens.
Ziegler Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
