Ann R. Chmielnik, of New City, passed away peace fully on January 13, 2017. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years Charles 'Chick'. She was born to Elsie and Felix Monteith on December 19th, 1933 in Haverstraw, NY and graduated from Spring Valley High School. Ann is survived by her four children, Kim Ross (predeceased by Dave), Glenda Chipperfield, Kevin (Karen), and Robert (Donna). She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her grandson Garrett. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Ann was an active member of the William E DeBoise American Legion Post in New City. Ann retired from Rockland County Boces as a teacher's aid and continued to substitute for many years after. She was also an active member of the New City senior club and enjoyed the many trips and activities.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the New City Women's Auxiliary Girls' scholarship fund in the name of Ann Chmielnik. There will be an American Legion Service held Wednesday at 7:00pm at the funeral home. Visiting M.J. Higgins Funeral Home 321 S. Main Street, New City, NY 10956 from 4pm to 8pm Wednesday, January 18, 2017. Thursday 1/19/2017 Services @ 11am M.J Higgins New City. Interment to follow at Fred Loescher Veterans Cemetery.
