Micajah Brown was my fourth great grandfather. I have gathered a few facts and documents about his life to create a short biography. I know that he was Native American with a strong probability from the Cherokee tribe of North Carolina. On October 24, 1807 he married Miss. Catherine McDowell in Wilkes, North Carolina. I'm unsure if Catherine was Native American, but offspring says that she was. Shortly after their marriage they traveled to Kentucky where they settled briefly and there first four children were born. They then made their way into Missouri, settling in Ray County, along the Missouri River. Micajah bought an eighty and a forty acre plot of land, both just north of the river. During the next few years they had four more children, making a total of seven boys and one girl. Their daughter, Malinda, was my third great grandmother. She married Robert H. "Bob" Lee. I feel Bob was of Native American descent as well, due to their offspring. I will include pictures of some of their children on Malinda and Bob's memorial page. Micajah is buried right here in Ray County, I have no doubt, but a headstone has never been discovered.
