John Auld was born in Ohio in 1828. He came to Andrew County, Mo when his Mother married James Templer. He married Catherine Cole around 1850. She was from Ripley County, Indiana. They traveled to Iowa Point, Doniphan County, Kansas and were residing there for the 1865 census.
Catherine returned to Andrew County to care for her elderly parents after her children left home. John eventually followed.
Catherine Cole Auld is buried in the Bowers (Beale) Cemetery in Andrew County, Mo. She died 22March 1896. John Auld is buried at the Andrew County Poor Farm where he resided after Catherine's death.
They had 3 children: Sarah born 1857, Mary Isadora (Dora) born 1860 in Kansas and Samuel 1864 in Kansas.
