Thomas Jefferson Hammons, 70, of 1347 North Brown died at 5:40 p.m. yesterday in his home following a lingering illness.
He was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses church, and had lived in Springfield most of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Martha of the home; two sons, Raymond of 1924 North Washington and Gene of Port Heuneme, Calif., a daughter, Mrs. Goldie Rheuark of 1924 North Washington; two brothers, Jacob A., and John J., both of Springfield; two sisters, Mrs. Mary E. Franks of Springfield and Mrs. China Lue Brown of Fair Grove; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf.
