While Dale was stationed at Camp Le Jeune, N.C., his first daughter, Rebecca Lynn was born Sept. 14, 1953. Upon discharge, Dale moved his family back to Illinois. He went to work at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co., for 32 years, 30 as a welder in the East Plant machine shop, earning the distinction of master craftsman welder. Dale began his personal relationship with the Lord when he was 13. As he grew, Dale enjoyed sharing his love for Christ in many church-related capacities. He served as an usher, Sunday school teacher, youth group leader and chairman of the Board of Deacons at First Baptist Church in Polo. Dale helped with the construction of the first sanctuary by welding the main "I" beam supports.
