Pete was the Philadelphia Phillies clubhouse assistant for 24 years. From 1974 until he retired in 1998 he was a trainer, traveling secretary, clubhouse man, manager's helper, player's friend - and a combination mother, father and favorite uncle. For 36 years in worked in the Phillies farm system before working with the major league club. He began his six decades in professional ball in 1938 after graduating from Hazleton High School. His only years away from baseball were the years 1942 to 1945, when he was with the Army Corps of Engineers building bridges in the Pacific islands.

Pete Cera never married, lived in Hazleton with his two bachelor brothers in the off season. During the season he lived in South Philadelphia, near Veterans Stadium, with a neighberhood family on Juniper Street. He never got a driver's license and walked to the stadium early each day.

He is survived by his brothers Frank, Agustus and Anthony.
He was predeacesed by two sisters, Angela Wye and Carmella Cera.
