Ruth Veitenheimer. Shawnee resident Ruth (Lamirand) Veitenheimer, 71, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, in Oklahoma City.

She was born April 26, 1933 in Wanette to Oscar and Lillie Lamirand. She attended school in Wanette. She was a homemaker and owned E&L Cleaning Co. and Emmit's Oasis. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as President.

On Dec. 10, 1947, she married Emmit L. Veitenheimer. They were married for 47 years. He preceded her in death May 27, 1995.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, Marvin, and Charles Lamirand, two sisters Carrie Simms and Betty Howell and four infant children.

Survivors include two sons, Herman Veitenheimer and Randy Veitenheimer, both of Norman, two daughters Jody Veitenheimer and her son Bobby Gideon of the home and Joy Wright and her husband, Tommy of Shawnee; one brother T.J. "Bill" Lamirand and his wife, Deloris of Shawnee, eight grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Chapel of Walker Funeral Service with the Rev. J.C. Farrand officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
