Most commonly known as Betsy or Bettie, Elizabeth Jane More was a direct descendant of John and Betty More's Jonas line. She was born 18 April 1849 at Roxbury, New York the eighth of ten children to Hiram More and Abagail Squires More. The family relocated to Colchester, New York about 1852 where her father was the owner and operator of a farm. Her parents died within a week of each other in 1870 whereupon her brother Ezra took her in. He was a farmer at Colchester. He died in 1891 and she then resided with her widowed sister Eleanor at Colchester. Her sister died in 1916 and Elizabeth resided for a time with her niece, Harriet Snyder, at Hamden, New York before residing with her sister Mary at Jamestown, Virginia. It was at this place that Elizabeth died of influenza on 13 January 1925 and was buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery at Williamsburg, Virginia. She had never married.
