Hans Johnson, son of Christian and Margaret Johnson was born in Hjemnaker Hadland Norway March 29 1864. He came to America with his parents in 1869. The voyage took 16 weeks. The Johnson Family settled in Green County Wisconsin. After 4 years they came to Buffalo county and took a homestead in the town of Montana. Mr. Johnson stayed at home most of the time with his parents until 1894. He then bought his own farm in the township of Dover which is now operated by a son Melvin. In 1898 he was united in marriage to Sarah T. Wulff. To this union 5 children were born; Melvin, now at Mondovi RR3, Joseph at Durand, Selma died in infancy another daughter died in infancy, and Chester at Amery Wisconsin. Hans and Sarah would have been married 60 years March 1st. Mr. Johnson worked his farm for 14 years, lived in Gilmanton 7 years and at Mondovi from 1920. 4 sisters and 3 brothers preceded him in death. Hans being the last of the Christian Johnson family. He leaves to mourn his death his wifw, 3 sons, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, Hans Johnson was called home at the age of 93 years 10 months and 1 day. Kjentvet and Son conducted the funeral service on Saturday February 1 at 2:00 p.m. at the Central Lutheran Church Mondovi with Pastor Harold Haugland officiating. Interment was at Riverside Lutheran Cemetery. Casket bearers were: Arthur Bielfeldt, Orin Gunderson, Oscar Johnson, William Nichols, Wendel Robinson and Charles Ruff.
