The sad announcement was made here on Tuesday of the death at his home in Lodi, Wis., on the preceding date, of Mr. R. L. Spencer, of apoplexy. Deceased was born at Waukesha some 54 years ago and resided here until he reached adult life. During his school days and young manhood, here he was very popular and numbered all who knew him as his friends. At the age of about 25 years, he went to La Crosse, and entered the employ of his brother, Thomas, as a druggist, and some years later engaged in business on his own account at North La Crosse.
From there he settled at a neighboring town and subsequently adopted Lodi as his permanent place of residence.
He met with a good degree of success in business life and was esteemed as an admirable citizen and a worthy friend. He leaves a widow and one daughter, the latter taking her father's name of Leslie. She is a student at the State University. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved relatives.
The remains were brought to Waukesha for interment and funeral services occurred on Wednesday.
