IN FOND REMEMBRANCE OF JAMES J. KYLE

James J. Kyle, son of James Asberry and Sarah Kyle, was born December 27, 1867 at Kyle's Ford, Hancock County, Tenn. Was educated in the common schools of Tennessee, in Curry College, Virginia, the Springfield Normal, and the University of Missouri. He began teaching at the age of sixteen, in Tennessee. He came with his parents to Missouri in the year of 1890 and followed his vocation of teaching for a number of years. He served Ozark County as County School Commissioner in the years of 1894-95, Prosecuting Attorney 1897-98.

He was married to Ida Virginia Cline of White Pine, Tennessee, Jan. 16, 1902. He served Ozark County in the 47th, 48th and 51st General Assemblies, he was Minority Floor Leader of the 47th General Assembly.

At the age of nineteen he professed a hope in Christ bur never united with any church. His motto that hangs on his bedroom wall is "As thy days so shall thy strength be." His life was a clean christian and business life three hundred and sixty five days of the year.

The latter part of his life was spent at Thornfield in the general merchandise, farming and stock raising, where he was also Notary Public and general adviser to all his friends in business matters.

On Saturday night, January 31, 1931 he retired about eleven o'clock, went to sleep to never return to his relatives and friends but to Jesus Christ.

His wife, Ida V. Kyle, preceded him in answer to the same call by only sixteen days. He leaves five sisters, Rachel A. Baker, wife of Chas. T. Baker, of Ava, Mo.; Roxie Dillia Gaulding, wife of Eld. I. H. Gaulding, Avalon, Calif.; Dora D. Gardner, wife of T.P. Gardner, Nancy V. Gaulding, wife of Baxter Gaulding, Emily J. Gaulding, wife of Charles Gaulding, all of Nottinghill, Mo., two brothers, Elder Robert Kyle of Nottinghill, and Logan Lyle, of Ava, Mo; numerous other relatives, neighbors, business and political friends to mourn their loss.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday evening at Thornfield, Rev. Robert Kyle of Marionville, Mo. and Rev. Arthur Kelly of Mansfield, Mo. officiating.
