Arthur Gordon Jensen beloved husband, father and family patriarch, died peacefully at Washington Terrace Health Services on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at the age of 85.

Gordon was born October 27, 1921 in Corinne, Utah, to Arthur Carl and Lodema Ohlwiler Jensen. He was their first child. He was raised in Midvale, Utah and would sometimes spend his summers in Bear River with his beloved Grandpa and Grandma Jensen, "Emma Will" and "Poker Bill". Being a child of the Depression, he was an industrious boy, and starting at the age of 12 he delivered papers on his bicycle and then in his 1934 Ford. In the summer he would work on a farm milking cows and helping with the hay.

He graduated from Jordan High School, was vice president of his Senior Class and then went to Boys State. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps October 20, 1942, and in April 1944 was commissioned a 2nd Lt. On his 8th mission over German Territory, his B-17 was hit with flack, and he had to bail out. He evaded capture for five days and then became a prisoner of war. He was liberated on April 29, 1945.

On November 5, 1943, he married Joyce Lindsay in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He returned to Hill Field in October of 1945 and retired in 1977 as a Supervisory Staffing Specialist in the Personnel Office.

Gordon and Joyce both loved to fish and later at the age of 70 he decided to take up photography. He joined the Ogden Camera Club and took many prizes with his work. He held the position of "Top Photographer" for many years.

He was a lifelong member of the BPOE Ogden Lodge #719. He and his wife served in the Ogden Temple for a few years. He loved his work and his associates very much.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, daughters, Judy (Allen) Berrett, Michele (Kim) Orr, and Darla (Kelly) Cunningham, 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Dr. Russell C. Jensen and Clair W. Jensen, and one sister, Carol Rose Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Scott Arthur Jensen.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley 3rd Ward Chapel, 5640 South 850 East.
