Joseph F Slater, 89, of Hill Street, Emlenton, formerly of Chicora, died at 5:20 p.m. yesterday, shortly after arrival at Franklin Hospital.
Born August 1, 1892, in Donegal Township, Butler County, he was the son of John and Sarah Ransel Slater.
He was employed for many years by the National Transit Company and had also been a custodian for the Chicora Moose Lodge for three years.
He was a member of Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, Chicora.
His wife, Blanche Shook Slater, whom he married May 24, 1916, died Aug. 16, 1967.
Surviving are two sons, Clayton Slater of Parker, and Russell of Franklin; and 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends of Joseph F Slater, who died Tuesday, March 30, 1982, will be received Thursday. Funeral services will be held Friday. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Sugar Creek.
