Erma C. Kruger Fish, 91, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point following a brief illness.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Church of Christ United in Winthrop with Pastor Dean Schlitter officiating. Friends may register at the church prior to the service. Private Committal Services will be held at the Urbana Cemetery in Urbana. Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
Erma was born October 17, 1920 at Winferd, SD to Peter Harrison and Clara Anna (Bramow) Kruger. In 1936 she graduated from the Vinton High School.
On February 18, 1944, she was united in marriage to Cecil Fish at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple farmed in the Winthrop area. Cecil preceded Erma in death on September 4, 1996.
In addition to being a busy farm wife, Erma was employed in the office of Pioneer Seed Corn in Vinton. She was a member of the Church Of Christ United in Winthrop and enjoyed activities at the Senior Center in Independence.
Erma is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Steve) Simon of Phoenix, AZ, and Janelle Franck of Thomasville, NC; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and her sister, Leone Studebaker of Vinton.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol (Fish) Ridenour, born 7-21-1950, and died October 15, 2001; her brother, Harold Kruger; and her sister, LaVonne Wiese.
