Minnie Raak, 94, of Sioux Center died Wednesday, February 23, in Sioux Center.
Services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 26, at Faith Christian Reformed Church In Sioux Center with the Rev. Mark De Wilt officiating. Burial was In Memory Gardens Cemetery.
The former Minnie Vander Ploeg was born October 5, 1899, in Sioux Center, the daughter of Tjasse and Takje (Valk) Vander Ploeg.
She married Dick Raak February 22, 1923, in Sioux Center. He died August 10, 1967.
She taught in rural schools in the Sioux Center area for four years.
She was an active member of First Reformed Church where she was a member of the Dorcas Circle and taught Sunday school and catechism for many years.
Survivors include five sons and their wives, Clifford and Grada Raak of Luverne, Minnesota, Kenneth and Arthea Raak of Worthington, Minnesota, the Rev. Truman and Marcella Raak of Brookings, South Dakota, Irwin and Trudy Raak of Jasper, Minnesota, and Vernon and Lois Raak of Sioux Center; a daughter, Muriel and her husband, the Rev. Robert Griffin of Washington, DC; a daughter-in-law, Eunice Raak of Sioux Center; a sister, Johanna Den Herder of Sioux Center; 35 grandchildren; and 49 greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis; a grandson; five brothers; and five sisters.
