Mr. William Vander Ploeg of Hospers passed away at his home there on Thursday morning following a lingering illness of many weeks due to cancer. He had reached the age of 49 years.
Left to mourn his departure are his wife, the former Mina Borgman, and five children, Casper in the service somewhere in France, Henrietta (Mrs. Raymond Bulthuis) of Long Beach, California, and Thelma, Henry and Robert all of Hospers.
Also two grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. J. D. Rozeboom of Steen, Minn., Mrs. Henry Van Roekel of Sioux Center, Nick and Charles Vander Ploeg of Sioux Center, Mrs. Genrit Huitink of Orange City, John Vander Ploeg of Yucaipa, Calif., Mrs. Raymond Lubbers of Sheboygan Falls, Wis., and Mrs. Teunis Den Herder and Mrs. Dick Raak of Sioux Center.
Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 at the home at Hospers and burial took place at the Carmel cemetery.
Mr. Vander Ploeg was born on July 11, 1895, and spent nearly all of his life in the Sioux farming for some time and the last few years were spent operating a furniture store in Hospers. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pearl Wessselink, and an infant son who died about is years ago.
