Anton Romer, Sr., Is Dead
Passed Away Monday Morning
Lincoln, April 6. - Anton Romer, Sr., of Mt. Pulaski, died at the family residence Monday morning at 3:30, succumbing to debilities of advanced age. Mr. Romer was one of the oldest and most prominent residents of Logan county, and his death is mourned by a large number of friends and acquaintances, whose esteem and respect be held.
Passed Away Monday Morning He was born in Westhausen, Wurttemberg, Germany, December 19, 1835, the son of Anton and Grace Romer, and was at the time of death 78 years, 3 months and 15 days old. He came to this country when a young man and moved to Illinois shortly thereafter. September 12, 1864, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Bollin, of Jacksonville, Ill. The wife survives him. To this union the following children were born: Joseph, Jacob, Herman, Thomas, Mrs. Agnes Dillsaver, Mrs. Grace Roth and Miss Rena Romer, all of Mt. Pulaski.
The following brothers and sisters survive him; Grace Romer, of Mt. Pulaski; Joseph Romer, of Delaware City, Del.; George, of Odessa, Del.; and Xavier, of Wurttemberg, Germany.
Mr. Romer was a lifelong member of the Roman Catholic church. During his active years he was a farmer in Laenna township. He later moved to Mt. Pulaski, where he had since mad his home.
The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock from the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic church, of Mt. Pulaski, Rev. L. M. O'Connor officiating. Burial in the Mt. Pulaski cemetery.
