IRENE W. BASS, 81, of Raleigh, died Saturday, February 14, 2004. Mrs. Bass, a native of Raleigh was born on May 23, 1922 to Robert and Bettie Wilkins. She spent her entire life in Raleigh raising her family. Mrs. Bass enjoyed being an active member of Pilot Baptist Church and also spending time with her grandchildren. She eventually retired from Sam Bass Camera in Cameron Village. Mrs. Bass is preceeded in death by her husband Corbey C. Bass.
Surviving are two daughters; Judy Holland Peele and her husband Alton of Garner, NC, Linda Holland Kirby and her husband Robert of Creedmoor, NC; four grandchildren, Ricky E. Peele of Lenoir, NC, Kimberly P. Stroud of Clayton, NC, Michael W. Peele of Raleigh and Linda Gaye Beasley of Concord NC. In addition, Mrs. Bass is survived by eight great-grandchildren; and one great--great-grandchild.
Funeral arrangements are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, 600 St. Mary's St. in Raleigh. Burial will be immediately after the service at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington St.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral Home.
