Axie was an active member of her local churches and a dedicated Sunday school teacher for many, many years. She was employed by Lee Academy for 35 years and took pride in every meal served at the dining hall. Her unwavering faith, loving family and longtime friends brought her great joy and much comfort throughout her life. She was a truly special lady and will be greatly missed, but will live on always in the memories of those she touched. Now, looking down from heaven, she would say, "I'm so lucky. I lived a long life, and it was a good life."
Axie leaves behind her sons, Harold Bradeen and Linda, Lloyd Bradeen, Vinal Porter and Gerry; eight grandchildren, Jody, Jeff, Michelle, Terri, Pam, Tracy, Corey and Julie; 19 great-grandchildren, several sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews and special friends. She was predeceased by her husbands, Harold Bradeen Sr. and LeRoy Porter; daughter, Edith (Bradeen) Cartrette; son, Larry Porter; an infant grandchild; and all of her siblings.
Honoring her wishes for simplicity, graveside services will be held in the spring at Butterfield Cemetery, Prentiss. (Bangor Daily News 1/31/2012)
