Ella's first husband was Clarence B. Parnell. They were married on December 18, 1918 in Anadarko, Caddo County, Oklahoma. They had four children during their marriage.

Ella Mae Carpenter 92 of Hatch, NM passed away on Thursday, Nov. 17, 1994 at Memorial Medical Center. Mrs. Carpenter was born on December 14, 1901 in Rhay [Rhea], Okla., to her parents, James and Sally Pierce Butler.

She came to the Hatch area in 1935 and was a retired barber. She was the owner-operator of the Hatch Barbershop from 1952 to 1992 and was a member of the Adam Street Church of Christ.

Mrs. Carpenter is survived by her three sons and their wives, Calvin and Doris Parnell of El Paso, TX, Alvin and Ruth Parnell of Anthony, NM, and Dale and Grace Parnell of Salem, NM; her daughter, Wanda Faye Miller and husband James of Hatch, NM; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey L. Carpenter in January of 1974.

Pallbearers for the service will be [Living: four grandsons and one nephew]. Honorary pallbearers are [Living: seven friends and family members].

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm. Saturday, Nov. 19, 1994 at the Adam Street Church of Christ, Hatch NM, with Bobby Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Service arrangements are with Graham Mortuary, 555 W. Amador, Las Cruces, NM.
