On December 14, 1774 Jacob had about 454 acres of land surveyed on Tates Run in Wythe County, Virginia. They lived there until his death in 1775. Jacob died without a will; however, Elizabeth (Jacob's son Michael's wife) and her children sold 100 acres to Curtiss Grubb in 1832.
