Son of Frank Rigsby and Ona Patterson Hamilton . According to the 1920 US Federal Census, the family lived in Pct 4, Somervell County, Texas. Children listed at the home were: Edgar (20), Albert (18), Willie (13), Jack (11), Monroe (9), Van (6). Lula (3) and Joseph (0).


He enlisted in the US Army December 17, 1942 and served with Company F, 325th Glider Infantry, 82nd Airborne. He was honorably discharged January 7, 1946.
