Homer Gunter Isbell departed this earth peacefully Jan. 9, 2006. He was a native and lifelong resident of Colbert County. Gunter served in the Navy during World War II aboard the aircraft carrier USS Boxer. He was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 320 since 1951. Most of his working career he served as a crane operator on various construction projects for TVA. His real love was farming, which he pursued part-time for most of his life. Gunter was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, family member and friend.
Gunter was the eldest son of Homer Ellis Isbell and Edna Weems Isbell.
