He was born in Denison on Feb. 20, 1942 to Bill and Lorace Allison. Sonny graduated from Denison High School and attended Arlington State College.
When he joined the U.S. Air Force, electronics was his specialty. Being stationed in North Africa was very rewarding; enjoying his passion for bowling and chosen to go to a tournament in Italy.
On March 9, 1963 he married Marsha K. Cottingame, his wife of 45 years.
While working for IBM for 35 years, he traveled throughout the U.S.A. and was rewarded with trips abroad. Family and community were of great interest, staying active by coaching baseball, Lake Dallas School Board member and a leader in the building of a new school.
Bill designed their retirement home in Preston Peninsula in 2000. He was a very generous person, giving of his time and resources to Toys for Tots and Pottsboro Chamber of Commerce. Operating two businesses, Allison's Boat Storage and Bill's Quality Services, planting trees, left time to cook for others. The Resale Barn, VFW and Elks Lodge 238 will fondly recall the huge surprise meals.
He graduated in 1990 from the Golfsmith Center in Austin, Texas, and expertly made golf clubs while enjoying the game.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Allison and mother Lorace (Shorty) Allison; grandmother, Rose Lovell and grandfather, William Lovell.
Survivors are his wife, Marsha Allison; son, Tony of Pottsboro; daughter, Becky Bucher; son-in-law, Daniel G. Bucher of Denison; grandsons, Harley Allison, Sam Bucher, Ada Bucher and granddaughter, Dani Bucher; mother-in-law, Reeda Cottingame Burk of Pottsboro; cousins, Vikki Bullock of Denison, Hoyt Pilkilton of Pottsboro, Fred Pilkilton Jr., Roger Pilkilton, Mark Pilkilton, Greg Pilkilton and their dear mother, Cathy Pilkilton of Denison.
