Colleen Byam, 65, passed away on December 8, 2011 two days before her birthday. Colleen was born December 10, 1945, in Yakima, Washington, to Fern and Clell Holmes.

Colleen and Dennis Byam, high school sweethearts, were married on August 2, 1969 and together raised two boys, Steven Michael and Joel Ross. Colleen graduated from Davis High in 1964 later attending Yakima Valley College. She worked at the Bon Marche and later for Gress Parnell Insurance. After their marriage and Dennis' graduating from chiropractic college, Colleen managed their chiropractic clinic in Grandview, Washington for thirty seven years. Colleen was active in economic development serving as a board member for New Vision and served as a Grandview Port Commissioner for eighteen years. Ironically she had just received her certificate of election for a forth six year term. Colleen played an important role in helping attract the Wal-Mart Distribution Center to Grandview creating many new well paying jobs for the area. Job creation was always a goal she had in her sights.

Colleen enjoyed trailer camping, emphasis on trailer but she did love sitting and reading by the campfire. She and Dennis traveled extensively enjoying Mexico and Hawaii. Colleen was an avid reader and was never without her Chap Stick.

She is survived by her husband Dennis married forty two years; her sons Steven Michael of Kennewick, Joel Ross of Grandview and grandson Jayden James; brother Clell Holmes; sister-in-law Techila Holmes; mother-in-law Rosemary Byam; sister-in-law Beverly Killion; brother-in-law Lynn Byam, wife Pam; niece Gail Brown, husband Dick; and nephew Ron Holmes, wife Gail.
