Guy L. Candland. 75. 468 N. 700 W., Provo, died at the Utah Valley Hospital. He was born Dec. 13, 1893, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of W. D. and Annie Pearl Candland.

He married Sophrona Madsen on July 30, 1918, In Manti. She died Feb. 6, 1957. Mr. Candland later married Fern Lynn Morgan on Jan. 15, 1959, in Elko, Nev.

Mr. Candland received his early education in the Mt. Pleasant schools and attended the Utah State Agricultural Col. Jege at Logan. While living in Mt. Pleasant he joined his father and his brother, Royal, raising purebred Rambouillet sheep and later sold these sheep in Japan and many other foreign countries as well as throughout the United States. He was always working to improve the particular breed of sheep.

Following his marriage he and his wife made their first home in Mt. Pleasant. He later sold his sheep interest in 1942, and they moved to Provo, where he became employed by Geneva Steel as a guard. He worked In this position from 1943 to 1959 when he retired. Active in politics, he was Republican District Chairman for several years. His hobbies Included gardening and woodworking and building. Mr. Candland was a member of the LDS Church.

Survivors are his wife of Provo; two sons and two daughters, David M. Candland, Tonapah, Nev.; Robert G. Candland and Mrs. W. DeVon (Miriam) A. Thomas, both of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Maurice (Leslie) M. Christensen, Chandler, Ariz.; one step-son and one step-daughter, Theodore Morgan, Indepen. dence, Miss.; and Mrs. Bernell (Merridy) Lawrence, Nogales, Ariz., and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel 185 E. Center, Provo, Bishop E. Earl Carter, Provo Third Ward, officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday prior to the services. Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
