WETMORE --- Edwin B. Hermesch, 85, Wetmore, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at an Onaga hospital.

He was born Sept. 20, 1916, near Kelly in Nemaha County, to Fred and Mary Wessel Hermesch, and attended school in Kelly.

He was a farmer and stockman before he retired.

He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Wetmore and Knights of Columbus. He had been a leader for the Wetmore Cardinals 4-H Club for many years.

He married Dora Leslie on May 8, 1940, in Corning. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Steven Hermesch, Goff; daughters, Anne Rowland, Kansas City, Kansas, and Ellen DeNoon, Tucson, Arizona; brothers, Bernard "Ben" Hermesch and Fred Hermesch, both in Seneca, Raymond Hermesch, Goff, Lambert Hermesch, Meriden, and Lawrence Hermesch, Anamosa, Iowa; sisters, Sister Amanda Hermesch, Colorado Springs, Mary Bruken, Holton, and Theresa Winkler, Corning; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. today in the parish hall at St. James Catholic Church in Wetmore. Burial will be in Wetmore Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Eastridge Care Home in Centralia or the children's education fund at St. James Catholic Church in Wetmore. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements.
