Harold H. Evans, 86, of Bowling Green, passed away at 1:05 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at Greenview Hospital.

The Sunfield, Mich., native was born June 15, 1925, and was the son of the late Herbert and Harriet Nicholson Evans.

He attended the University of Minnesota prior to entering flight training in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He received his pilot's wings and commission and is currently a retired Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

In 1946, he began working for the Portland Manufacturing Co., which was at that time a subsidiary of Holley Carburetor Co. He began as a stock handler and moved up through the ranks as an inventory control clerk, assistant production control manager, and in 1951 was promoted to production control manager. In 1952, he was transferred to the relatively new Bowling Green Manufacturing Co. as production control manager. He serve in this capacity until Jan. 1, 1970, at which time he was appointed assistant plant manager. On Jan. 1, 1971, he was promoted to plants manager of the Bowling Green Plants of Holley Carburetor Division of Colt Industries Operating Corp. He retired from Holley in 1985.

Mr. Evans is a director emeritus of the Bowling Green Bank and Trust/BB&T. He was a past director of the Bowling Green Jaycees, past member and chairman of the Planning and Zoning Board of Adjustment, past president of the United Way, past president of the Indian Hills Country Club and the Bowling Green Country Club. He is also a past president of the Bowling Green High Quarterback Club. He was also vice president of the Retired Officers Association and a member of the Board of the Bowling Green Warren County Airport Board.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Thelma Rice Evans; two sons, Craig G. Evans of Wilmington, N.C., and Marc W. Evans (Cynthia) of Bowling Green; a sister, Janet Carter (Vaughn); a brother, Ronal D. Evans (Mary Beth), both of Portland, Mich.; six grandchildren, Kimberly Jackson (Eli), David Buchannan, Kelley Pathak (Aman), Angela McDaniel (Jonathan), Dax W. Evans (Katie) and Laine Baker (Will); two great-granddaughters, Natalie Rich and Saxon Evans; and five great-grandsons, Zach McDaniel, Tanner Rich, Cannon McDaniel, Aiden Buchanan and Kiran Pathak; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at J.C. Kirby & Son, Lovers Lane chapel, with visitation on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery No. 2.
