Final rites were held on Tuesday morning, May 8, 1945, at 9:30 a.m. in the Schaetter Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church for Albert Metzger, who died on Sunday, May 6, at the age of 64 years, 11 months and 2 days in a local hospital.
The Rev. Fr. Thomas Coleman officiated in the rites and interment was made in the Catholic Cemetery.
Mr. Metzger was born in Gillespie County on June 4, 1880, the son of the late John P. and Gertrude Hartmann Metzger. He was united in marriage with surviving widow, Miss Theresa Kollet on January 31, 1905.
Survivors, in addition to his widow, includse the following children: Gertrude, Mrs. Paul A. Petsch, San Antonio; Paul Metzger, San Antonio; Sgt. Lawrence F. Metzger, with the U. S. Army in Canada; Staff Sgt. Bruno Metzger, with the Army in Germany; and Miss Julia Mae Metzger, San Antonio.
Also surviving are three grand children and the following brothers and sisters; Amelia, Mrs. Louis Kammlah and Sophie, Mrs. Henry C. Durst, both of Fredericksburg.
One son, John Joseph Metzger, preceded him in death, as did one sister, Mrs. Henry Heimann.
