Laura Belle Pennington, 85, died Jan. 19, 2012, at Specialty Hospital, a division of Rush Hospital, in Meridian. Services are today at 3 p.m. at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Oscar Maddox officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens in Columbus. Visitation is today two hours prior to service at the funeral home chapel. Ms. Pennington was born June 28, 1926, in Walker County, Ala., to the late Joseph and Willie Annie Chain Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil G. Pennington; and son, Cecil Wayne Pennington. She was a resident of Columbus since 1955 and was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church. She is survived by her sons, Glenn J. and Eddie G. Pennington, both of Caledonia, Donald Pennington of Baltmore, Md., Danny Pennington of Columbus, and A. Merrel Pennington of Saltillo; brother, Grady N. Davis of Byram; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Robert, Donnie, Jason, Corey and J.P. Pennington, Corey Irevathan, Corey Mastlet, Kent Coscia, and Chad Baird.
