A Burlington Brakeman Killed by the Overhead Timbers of a Bridge
A fatal accident occured about seven o'clock yesterday morning on the Burlington Freight bound north near East Winona. A brakeman named Guy Gobin was riding on the top of the caboose when the train passed a covered bridge. The overhead framework struck him on the head causing almost instant death. The body remained where it fell on top of the car until removed and taken to Winona. Last night it was taken to Burington (Iowa City) Iowa where the deceased had a father and mother residing. The man had been employed by the railroad company about six months and before that worked for Peter Kieselback for a year and a half. He was forty years old and unmarried.
