---
Widow of Samuel "Rodgers", c. 1851 - bef. 1910 census. Samuel probably was a son of Samuel Rogers and Elizabeth Lambert from Marion Co., SC. Two of his sisters married Ogburn brothers and are buried in Suttons Methodist Cemetery, as are his mother and another sister. In 1880, Samuel and Dorothy "Dolly" Rogers lived between Nicholas T. Altman's family and the family of William C. Ogburn and wife Trecinda Caroline Rogers, sister of Samuel.
In Suttons censuses, there was no other Samuel Rogers or Rodgers who might have been confused with the son of Samuel and Elizabeth.
---
Probably Dorothy was born in Suttons. Her father, Nicholas T. Altman, seems never to have left Suttons except when he went into the Civil War.
---
Gourdin, SC, is a few miles northwest of Suttons Methodist Church and on the same road. Probably Gourdin was the nearest depot to which a body could be shipped from Columbia to eventually arrive at Suttons. Dorothy's grave is not known, but Nicholas T.'s family usually buried in Suttons Methodist Cemetery, as did the Rogers family. Therefore, Dorothy is listed provisionally in Suttons.
