Kingstree, Dec. 9 -- Funeral services for Sidney Pressley Brooks Altman, aged seventy-four, who died at his home in the Trio section Thursday morning, were held the following day at the Suttons Methodist Church, where he had served for a number of years as steward. His pastor, the Rev. P. E. Scoggins was assisted in the services by the Rev. J. C. Smiley of the Greeleyville Methodist church, and the Rev. B. G. Murphy of Andrews. Mr. Altman had been in failing health for the past several years, and had been confined to his bed for almost a year, before his death.

He was a native of Williamsburg county, and had spent his entire life in and near the community where he had made his home.

Mr. Altman was twice married, his first wife having been Miss Dennis of Johnsonville. Of this union two children, a son and daughter survive as follows: W. J. Altman, Trio, and Mrs. J. D. Griffin, Sumter.

He later married Miss Margaret DuRant of Georgetown, who survives with two daughters: Miss Alice Altman, Andrews, and Mrs. H. W. Koonce, Florence; one adopted son, Joe D. Altman of the CCC camp at Fort Moultrie; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers and three sisters as follows: W. L. Altman, S. J. Altman, J. M. Altman, Mrs. W. P. Hawkins, Mrs. Sallie Altman Ballenberger, and Mrs. H. E. Alsbrooks, all of the Suttons community, in the lower part of Williamsburg County.
