ARCOLA - Robert E. Brown I, 78, of Arcola, formerly of Decatur, died 3:50 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 18, 2004) in Arcola Heath Care Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Memorials: Sarah Bush Hospice, Mattoon. Mr. Brown was born Oct. 15, 1925, in Decatur, the son of Leo and Nellie Goin Brown. He was a machinist for Winn-Dixie and Sunbeam Bakery. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, VFW and American Legion. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He married Constance Behymer on July 12, 1947, in Sullivan. She preceded him in death Jan. 8, 1976. Surviving are his sons, Rusty M. Brown and wife Deborah of Arcola; Robert E. Brown II and wife Marla of Grand Junction, Colo.; Stephen A. Brown and wife Sharon of Warrensburg; Teddy Joe Brown and wife Darla of Cabot, Ark.; daughters, Susan Martindale of Decatur; Joan Elizabeth Gatica of Grapevine, Texas; Jenna Lou Torres and husband Chris of Atwood; sister, Marilyn Mae Willis and husband Bill of Alabama; grandchildren, Samantha, Tiffany, Destini, Teddy Joe Jr., Andrew, Joshua, Tabitha, Misty, Robert, Jeremy, Jennifer, Richard, Bobbi Sue, Kenneth and Krystal; 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, one sister and one grandchild.
