Dr. William Lake Watson, 81, died January 19, 2012. A private graveside service was held at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague, the Rev. John Wells officiating.

Bill was born October 20, 1930, in Dallas to William L. (Lake) and Zelma Tharp Watson. He grew up in Teague and graduated as valedictorian from Teague High School in 1948. As a boy he spent many happy hours fishing and hunting quail and dove in the Teague area. He graduated from the University of Texas and Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, followed by an internship at Providence Hospital in Waco. Bill served as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at the School of Aviation Medicine, Randolph AFB, San Antonio.

Bill married Patricia McMichael in 1959. Upon completion of his residency training in Dallas in 1965, Bill and Patricia moved to Waco where he established his medical practice in otolaryngology.

After retirement in 1993, Bill continued to manage the family properties in Freestone County. He and Patricia especially enjoyed fishing together at the Texas coast.

Bill was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Waco.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia, children, Carrie Easley and husband, Dan and Lake Watson; grandsons, Hays Easley and Matt Easley.

We are grateful to our devoted caregivers, Hazel Cobb, Verdie Lee, Brenda Bankaster and the staff of Wesley Woods.
